How to help someone in crisis.
You do not need to be an expert. These five steps, drawn from suicide prevention best practice, are enough to make a real difference.

Know the signs
Know the warning signs.
Knowledge saves lives. If you notice these signs in yourself or someone else, treat them as a reason to reach out — not to wait.
See crisis resources- Talking about wanting to die, or feeling like a burden to others
- Feeling hopeless, trapped, or in unbearable emotional pain
- Looking for a way to end one’s life
- Withdrawing, isolating, or saying goodbye to people
- Giving away possessions or putting affairs in order
- Extreme mood swings, rage, or sudden calm after a dark period
- Increased use of alcohol or drugs
