Educate
We teach schools, workplaces, and communities across Atlanta how to recognize mental health struggles and respond.

What Atlanta Gives is a community-rooted nonprofit working to prevent suicide through education, awareness, and action — and to make sure no one in our city has to face their darkest moments alone.
Who we are
Three pillars hold the work together. They are how prevention becomes a habit a community can pass down.
We teach schools, workplaces, and communities across Atlanta how to recognize mental health struggles and respond.
Through campaigns and community events, we break the stigma and create space for open, honest conversations.
We fund crisis intervention, training, and support systems that put real help where it is needed most.

A survivor’s story
My name is Rolando Heredia-Bustos, founder of What Atlanta Gives.
In 2021, I went through one of the hardest moments of my life. I survived a suicide attempt, and in the long days of recovery that followed, something in me shifted. I made a commitment to get better, and to help others do the same.
That experience changed how I see everything — myself, the people around me, and the importance of support. What Atlanta Gives grew from that understanding. We focus on three things: education, awareness, and support.
Because everyone deserves the chance to heal, and no one should have to face their darkest moments alone.
“Everyone deserves the chance to heal.”
