Cost is the #1 barrier to first-time help-seeking. People who need help often skip it because the first session feels too expensive, too uncertain, or too official.
First Step removes that barrier. We personally vet every provider in our growing Atlanta network. Anyone we refer gets a free first session, plus a warm personal introduction letter from our founder — no paperwork, no commitment to continue.
A referral becomes a hand-delivered invitation. The hardest part stops being the first call.
What “vetted” means

We add providers to the network deliberately, one at a time. Here is exactly what we check.
Credentials & licensure
For clinical providers, we verify active licensure in Georgia and confirm a clean public record before adding them to the network.
Mission fit
A direct conversation with the provider about WAG's mission — suicide prevention through education, awareness, and action — and how they approach first-time clients.
Free first session, honored
Written confirmation that the provider will honor a fully-free first session for anyone WAG refers, with no paperwork required from the client.
Atlanta presence
In-person or telehealth practice serving Atlanta-area residents, so referrals stay practical for the people we serve.
